Proseries renewal invoice increased by 40%

I recently received my 2025 ProSeries renewal invoice that showed a 40% increase from tax year 2024.  I have called 4 times asking the question - why did it increase by 40%?  There is no change in the products.

The customer support is just awful and nobody seems able to answer.  I just want a response so that I have enough time to evaluate other tax products.

Has anyone else had this issue?

if you really want to know why look at Intuit stock price in the last 5 years.

Payroll software price increased 600% .from. $500 to $3000 in five years

Someone else posted about a similar increase but when the dust all settled it sounded like he got in on a sweetheart deal that should have ended earlier but Intuit finally caught up with him for the new year.

I did not receive such a deal and I accept a modest increase each year.  A 40% increase is not justified in my opinion.

Again, what package and how much?  You may have a screaming deal already, even with the 40% increase.  Someone else said they have Professional 1040 Complete and pays less than $1500 WITH the increase, but thats half of what I pay for the same package.

what package did you purchase and how much did they charge you?

I checked mine and it went up around 17% so I have no idea why yours is 40%. Are they trying to sell you add-ons? or additional products that they think you might want - like cloud hosting? that is some large amount per month based on users. It is for exactly the same items?

not happy with any increase but I have no desire to research, learn and convert to another software. For me proseries does what I need and for the 1 or 2 times I need a work around it wouldn't justify a higher fee from another company.

I think I'm in the 17% category.... but, in the same quote/proposal was a 'recommended option' to change to 'hosted'....  which would have increased my pricing about 300%...

Did you look at the early renewal discount?

I'm having the same issue as well. A huge price increase of 59.3% from 2024 vs tax year 2025 Intuit ProSeries. I just called customer support, and they don't have any answers. Product didn't change, and it's a whopping 60% increase. This is unacceptable.

I'm going to call sales and see if they can get me a better deal.

They don't value repeat customers who have been with them for a decade or longer.

Dear ProSeries Customer Support Team,

I am writing regarding my 2025 ProSeriesSubject

renewal invoice, which reflects an approximate 40% increase from my prior renewal. I was surprised by this substantial increase, as my usage and business needs have remained consistent.

As a long-time ProSeries customer, this level of increase creates a financial hardship and is not sustainable for my practice. I value the ProSeries product and would like to continue using it; however, I am requesting a review of my account to determine whether a loyalty discount, promotional rate, or price adjustment can be applied to bring the renewal cost more in line with prior years.

I would appreciate written clarification on the reason for the increase and confirmation of any available options to reduce the renewal amount. I am hopeful we can resolve this promptly so I may complete my renewal without interruption.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Patricia Craig-Hood

I am considering Drake, after 20 years with Proseries!

I am too - it’s ridiculous to increase the software to this degree.  And it’s not like the software is getting exponentially better!

Just as a side note, Drake is cheaper, but they do increase their fees too:

"For the 2024 tax year (preparing 2023 taxes), Drake Software implemented significant fee increases, with some users reporting hikes of 16% to over 25% for unlimited packages."

"For the 2026 tax year (tax software for the 2025 filing season), Drake Software has implemented significant price increases for specific products, most notably for Drake Portals, with some users reporting over a 50% increase (1.5x) for that service"
