My client lives in Oklahoma but gets a 1099-r form from state of California. California is states payer code. Do I need to fill out California tax return to report this?

Must I complete a California return to report this income or do I just include it in the

Oklahoma income? It is reported in box 13-1 on the 1099R.

Is there any CA state tax withholding?  If not, no CA return is required.  Just report the income to Oklahoma.

If they withheld CA state taxes, you could file a Non resident CA return to get that money refunded.
