mfs to take the recovery rebate

can a client file as MFS and put the kids with the spouse who has lower income to take advantage of the recovery rebate. If they file MFJ, their income is too high

if its a community property state it may not work out as well as it sounds, but yes, in non CP states it seems to be a well used plan.
