If Pro Series automatically extended tax returns when issued due to COVID-19, why is client getting a later filing letter?

ProSeries didnt do anything automatically.

What type of return are you referring to?

IRS extended the due dates for returns that were originally due 4/1 and after to 7/15.

IRS also announced that recently many bills went out (that shouldnt have) that are dated back in April, the computers did their thing automatically.

1120S was due March 16th unless extended by then. No extension.....late filed.

Returns were not extended; the filing date was changed to July 15. That's not the same thing.

Returns are now due 7/15/2020. If you cannot get them done by 7/15, you need an extension to October 15, 2020.
