I'm having trouble getting ProSeries to accept electronic filing for Form 1041 for 2017. Am I missing something? This is the first year fiscal year 8/31-7/31/18

The first thing that you are "missing" is telling us what exactly the "trouble" is. Nobody could ever help you with the information you provided.
Is the program sending the e-file and you get a rejection notice from the IRS? If so, what is the rejection code/notice?
