I filed a client's tax return with the wrong social security number.  How do I fix the problem

Unless their names are very similar, the return should get rejected.  If not, you are going to have to make a phone call to a very angry ex-husband.

Not helpful?  I hope you don't think I am going to call the ex and tell him you screwed up big time.  On second thought, give me the number -------- I'll be happy to call.

The ex-husbands name and SSN?  eekk..wont get rejected if the name and SSN match, but the ex's return sure will.    

I guess an amended return is in order...wont be a quick or quiet fix, you wont be able to fix this on your own without the taxpayers knowledge.
