error IND-517-01 Efile reject dependent SSN must not be the same as Primary in another

Looking for info here - may be identity theft of minor dependent.  What's the fastest way to find out if a return has been unknowingly filed for a dependent?  Called IRS ID Theft number, they said over 60 min wait.  Paper filewith the ID affadavitt?

First, did you ask the client if the dependent filed their own return?

The more I know the more I don’t know.

    Yes, 18 y/o dependent son said he did not file a return in 2021 (has never filed).
