Does IRS require Cusip #'s and can a brokers statement be attached in lieu of completing details on Schedule B-Stocks and Bonds on Form 706?

I've never had one sent back for lack of CUSIPs. I'll enter them if I have them. I don't go look them up.
I guess you can attach a statement. I always entrer the info.
