Does anyone know how to update "Next Step" for a client in the Homebase view?

Does anyone know how to update "Next Step" for a client in the Homebase, EF Center view?  Although, in some cases it's noted as "E-file Complete".  But I would like to enter why it's not completed.

click on the column heading  NEXT STEP

might have to do it twice to get to the unfinished returns
