Do you have to add W2 Box 7 tips to Box 3 Social Security Wages to allocate SS on tips in box 7? Do you have to pay SS on Box 7 tips amount and if so where to report it.
Does Social Security tips in box 7 of W-2 still gets tax for SS tax of 6.20% and how to report the amount on tax return? example below
Box 1 of W-2 shows Wages and Tips amount for total wages: $10,000
Box 3 only shows Social Security Wages excluding tips amount and box 4 shows SS tax withheld: $8,000
Box 7 shows Social Security Tips amount: $2,000
