Filed as HOH with son as qualified relative.  Client received stimulus but relative did not.

relative made no money, do I file a return for him stating he qualifies as relative on another return so that he receives  his stimulus money

thank you

If youre referring to a 2020 return, you'll have to wait for the IRS to catch up and complete the 2020 tax processing to issue the $1400 for the dependent.

A Dependent on the HOH return should be what you file, as usual.

The son is eligible to be a dependent.  That means he does NOT qualify for the stimulus payment for himself.

For the third stimulus, the parent should receive the $1400 for the son.  If the parent has not yet received that, they eventually will receive it (they need to be patient; it could take a few more months).

Tax guy Bill is correct... Also if you use direct deposit on 2020 return that may speed up the third economic impact payment but that is just my opinion...

Why not? Lots of people are getting two $1,400 payments -- one for themselves because they claimed the dependent, and one directly to the dependent with no income.
