Foster child lived with taxpayer for 5 months. Getting child tax credit even though less than half the year. Could this be right?

If in doubt, use the IRS ITA (Interactive Tax Assistant)

The foster child must live with them for 6+ months.

Some foster situations are that a child lived in multiple places throughout the year with none of them being over 6 months and no one gets to claim that child for this tax year.
