Can I re efile a return that has been accepted by the IRS so I can efile a 1040X?

I am not the original preparer, trying to avoid sending in by paper.

    why does pro series allow to efile an amended state when I wasn't the original preparer of the return but not the same for the federal.

        Other than postage and delivery time, what do you expect to lose with a paper 1040-X?  Either way it's going to be reviewed by at least one IRS examiner, and usually two.
