Can I efile a tax return for a deceased taxpayer ?

I never can, but Lisa seems to have all the luck.

EDIT: I can efile a MFJ return when one of the spouses has died.

Sometimes SSA locks out the SSN, but otherwise, yes.

The average age of my client base is about 114 so it isn’t that unusual for me to file returns for deceased folks and I don’t recall having any issues e-filing those returns .  Of course you can’t e-file any returns for dead or living folks right now since the IRS has e-filing shutdown until January.
