ProConnect Tax diagnostic 50411 is incorrectly rejecting valid California Secretary of State file numbers that use the new B-prefix format.
Effective February 25, 2025, the California Secretary of State began issuing entity numbers in a new 12-character format: B + 4-digit year + 7 digits (e.g., B20250235734).
Diagnostic 50411 validates CA SOS numbers and currently expects "seven, nine, ten, eleven, or twelve numeric digits." It does not recognize the B-prefix format as valid, causing the diagnostic to fail for all newly registered entities with B-prefixed SOS numbers.
For example, when I input the SOS number, I get this Diagnostic Error: "The California SOS number for the S-Corporation must be seven, nine, ten, eleven, or twelve numeric digits long and cannot consist of the same repeating digit (e.g., 11111111). CA - Ref #50411"
Does anyone know a way around this?
I got one that's a new entity, so just came across this myself. Were you able to find a solution? If you Ignored the diagnostic did it reject? Or was it accepted?
Hi @Quack_Shot Great to see you here! We are checking into this and we'll let you know what we find out.
Hi @mackenziehashbasis and @Quack_Shot Thanks for the patience while we looked into this. We have heard back from Development. They advise to enter the 11 numeric digits without the 'B' and this will clear the diagnostic.
Thank you!
