Oregon Responsible Party License #

I'm an Idaho business and would like to file Oregon tax returns for 2025 for "friends and family" at no charge.   I have not yet obtained an Oregon tax practitioners license because I'm testing ProConnect in 2025 and wanted to complete the licensing later.   Can I use ProConnect to file Oregon returns without the Oregon Responsible Party License number or do I need to wait until I've obtained the license from the state?   Thanks!

If the preparer lives in Oregon, then they must register. So, the short answer is YES.

EDIT: It is the former and not the latter in your question.  The license is only required for preparers that live in OR. Since you live in ID, waiting until you move to OR wouldn't solve the current problem. THANK YOU BOB.

But the preparer lives in Idaho . . . ?

I don't register with Oregon, but maybe my professional credential works.  What are they going to do, come to Boise and arrest you?

I live in Idaho and have an Idaho business.   However, I travel frequently to Oregon to maintain rental properties and have many contacts and potential Oregon tax preparation customers.   Thanks for the response!

And when you buy things tax-free in Oregon, you always pay Idaho use tax on them . . .
