How To Populate Detroit Part-Year Resident 5120 In ProConnect

I cannot figure out how to get Detroit part-year resident 5120 to populate. It defaults to Detroit resident 5118.

Things I have tried:

  • State & Local --> Taxes --> MI Cities --> selecting Detroit as resident city (but there is no where to choose part-year resident)
  • W2 --> Inputting number of days worked in Detroit and/or dates worked in Detroit
  • Client Info --> Resident state as of 12/31 set as MD (client moved out of MI in Dec 2025) and checking Multi-State return

Client was a Detroit full year resident in 2024, so not sure if that is affecting anything.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

I found it! It is the tiniest "city" button in the upper right corner, just below where it shows "saved at X:XXpm" and "review return".

State & Local --> Taxes --> Michigan Cities --> cities (top right)

Then enter residency info on cities info tab, and resident city income and non resident city income on the income & deductions tab.
