The key to getting your summary entries to go to Part I, Line 3, is to:

Make sure you make the input as suggested in the article George referred you to; and
On the Schedule D tab of the input screen, enter 2 on the line "Reported on: blank=Form 1099-B with basis reported to IRS, 1=Form 1099-B but basis not reported to IRS, 2=form other than Form 1099-B (Form 8949)"
