Form 8858 for an individual (1040) — no input screen in ProConnect?
I'm preparing a 2025 Form 1040 in ProConnect Tax for a U.S. individual who directly owns two UK limited companies. Both companies made check-the-box elections on Form 8832 to be disregarded entities, so each one requires a Form 8858 with Schedule M attached to his 1040.
When I search the Input Return screens for "8858" in the individual module, there is no input screen — the only match is the "Statement in lieu of Form 8858" field on the Form 5471 screen. That statement isn't available to my client: he owns the FDEs directly as an individual, so there's no CFC or controlled foreign partnership, and the IRS instructions only allow a statement in lieu where the FDE is owned by a CFC/CFP reported on Form 5471/8865. He needs the full Form 8858.
I can also see Form 8858 has dedicated input screens in the Corporate and S-Corporate modules ("Foreign Disregarded Entities (8858)"), but nothing equivalent in the 1040 module.
My questions:
- Am I correct that ProConnect cannot generate Form 8858 in the individual (1040) module?
- If so, is the supported method to complete the official IRS Form 8858 + Schedule M outside the software and attach them via Input Return → General → Electronic Filing → e-file PDF/Miscellaneous with "Send PDF attachment with federal return" = Yes, so they transmit with the e-filed 1040? Or is Form 8453 with paper mailing required?
- Is native 1040 support for Form 8858 on the development roadmap? With check-the-box elections so common for individuals owning foreign companies, this comes up every year.
