Yesterday's Intuit Alert posted a solution for the UI issue, which is copied below. @IntuitAlicia Alicia please let me know if I am wrong or if there is a solution to the flaw I think I have found.
Unfortunately, the SSN for the amended return must be all 9's so that REP charges are not incurred. Doing this will disallow the Recovery Rebate Credit and other credits. So this solution has a flaw.
