I am trying to print a confirmation letter for a client showing that their Federal Estimated Tax Payments have been submitted. I can do this for the CA payments, is there a way to do it for the Federal P{ayments?
There is not - the state one only generates if it's a state that transmits the ES payments separately from the tax return filing.
Thank you for your quick response. Kind of crazy that this is not something that people have asked for.
The IRS ack that the letter pulls information from just says "you filed the tax return on this date at this time with this submission ID, and we accepted it." There's not an obvious place to pull "did the estimates go with the e-file" data from that couldn't be affected by someone unlocking the file and changing it, then re-printing the letter. Plus the IRS doesn't do anything but file away the bank info for later - there's no verification step or anything. So the only real proof of acceptance of the estimate is "the money came out of your bank account."
I print the Financial Transaction Summary as the "here's what's being requested" form.
