Oregon Folks: OR-VSI Ethnicity Codes changed for 2025, but 2024 codes proforma...

Heads up to those filing OR returns...

The Ethnicity Codes on this darn OR-VSI form are different as of 2025, but the codes are proforma-ing from 2024 and are likely no longer accurate.

So, for example, if you had someone choose Code 101 in 2024 for "Central American," this has proforma'd to 2025 and now Code 101 indicates they are "American Indian."

As if we couldn't hate this any more than we already did!

Hi @shannondb For TY25 a new critical diagnostic warning Ref. #61771 will be found on the Diagnostics tab for this. It will Jump to Input for the field where it needs to be changed. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

Wonderful, thank you! If we're splitting hairs, it wasn't just a reorganization but an expansion, so the most vague options (and thus most-used) from 2024 are no longer options for 2025 -- they want us to get more specific. But ultimately this should stop and make the preparer think a bit, and hopefully prevent seriously skewed statistics being reported to OR for 2025.

Although I'm not sure I really care if OR is able to accurately calculate the ethnicity "rates" of its residents 🙃
