According to California Secretary of State in a December 22, 2025 Customer Service Update: Newly registered Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), and Limited Partnerships (LP) will now utilize a 12-character ID that starts with the letter “B”.

When I type my client's 12-character ID that starts with B into Screen 1, I get an e-file diagnostic for both California Corporation Number and California SOS Number. It goes away if I remove the B.
It's not explicit in California's instructions but it seems like the B should go in there. Are we fine removing the B or is there an update coming soon? Any thoughts?
I made a similar post last week and it got no traction.
I'm of the opinion that the B needs to appear on the forms. If you go on CA's SOS website and search your entity's SOS # without the B, you cannot find the entity.
@Kathi_at_Intuit You've been very helpful with fixes in the past- any assistance here?
Hi @radio4 Thanks for reaching out on this. We've checked and this has been reported to development for further review.
Hi @qstok85 Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting your first questions! This has been reported to Development for review.
Hello @qstok85 and @radio4 Thanks for the patience on this. We have heard back from Development. They advise to enter the 11 numeric digits without the 'B' and this will clear the diagnostic.
