Has anyone else had issues with Lacerte incorrectly calculating the NYS & NYC EIC. Our office has received a total of 5 letters were NYS adjusted clients refunds due to incorrect calculations from Lacerte. One client had a $140 federal EIC, but Lacerte calculated a NYS EIC of $1075 & a NYC EIC of $179. The signature pages and returns were printed off at the same time, no changes were made to the return after signing and before transmitting, the efile acknowledgements show the larger refunds. But now when you go into the software it shows the lower refunds.
Given the amount of money the Lacerte community pays for this program, shouldn't we be able to take for granted that the program will compute that amount correctly? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Since the accurate amount now shows up on the return, Lacerte evidently found out about & fixed the problem. Wouldn't the responsible action on Lacerte's part be to notify your clients (us) of this error so we could proactively address this with our clients in a timely manner?
