HOA is tax exempt. In the past have efiled the 1120-H. For CA filed an exemption to paper file a form 100 for CA. CA could not be efiled a form 100 as there is no incorporation date. And never will have one.
Well, this is tax exempt and never subject to the minimum tax. So they could file either a form 199 or in this case, 199N. A 199N cannot be efiled, so you can choose to efile a Form 199 instead per the FTB
On Screen 54 - CA Homeowners Assoc (199) section - no mixture of selections seem to allow us to efile for CA. I have selected to Force the 199 and eliminate Form 100. Nope. Check non exempt unincorporated assoc and file the 100 - nope
Everything gives the critical diagnostic "date incorporated missing #25127" This does not stop the 1120-H from being efiled - yet any and all CA options cannot be - I have tried.
When only the Form 199 is generated within this module, get a 2nd critical Diagnostic - This return is set to be filed electronically but CA form 100 is not generated with the return...
Any ideas? Do I have to set up as another entity - and pay another REP charge and download the Exempt Organization module to file CA?
Can we use the date the association began to efile for CA even though it is not an incorporation date? They have a state ID number? Will CA be upset if put this in the incorporation date field to efile? Do they have a mechanism to connect the dots on type of entity on the back end?

It looks like the 199N can be filed directly with FTB online, without going through Lacerte software. Probably in 15 minutes. Probably easier than running around like decapitated poultry, trying to find a workaround.
You can't really say it will never have one. They can choose to do that if they believe the online advice that it adds to liability protection.
How about the date they got exempt status? What's the worst FTB can do? A $40 penalty?

YOU ARE WONDERFUL! Less than 15 minutes. Whoo hoo! Done. And onward we go. Thank you. Hope this is a sign of smooth sailing for this season.
