Will direct pay be timely if I file a return the day before the tax due date?

The client wants to have the amount due direct debited on her account.  Will there be enough time for the Direct pay to work if we file today, July 14, 2020?

yes, you can e-file today and the payment will be paid on time. If the return is e-filed on or before the due date the payment date will automatically be the due date of the tax return.

If the taxpayer wants to pay before the due date use the Electronic payment date [O] field to enter a custom date. If the return is e-filed after the due date of the tax return the transmission date is used.
