I am trying to split a gift tax return between H and W. But I don't want to check the box on page 1 that it is gift splitting. How???

If you are not gift splitting you will need to create 2 gift tax returns in 2 files.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

As sjrcpa said you will have to manually create two returns and have two REP fees. Try the box, it really doesn't hurt. 

You can use all 9's for the primary taxpayer ID number to get a FREE REP to test it out. If you restore from C:\LACERTE\18TAX\DEMODATA\ there is a demo client called John B Donor to play with.
