We had a client that was out of state when his return was completed this year.  He provided his bank information over the phone which was read back to him while he was on the phone, so life should be good.  Mailed him the return and he called when he received the return with one question - "where did you get the banking information from?"  You can't fix stupid and you can't have clients verify information that they will never look at.
