I don't think the Tax Planner in ProSeries is very good.

Personally, I "Save As" the current year return, change the birthdates and "placed in service" dates by one year, and use that as a planner.   Although a few of the minor annual changes won't be reflected, you will be able to have a detailed full return to plan with.
