ProSeries® e-Filing

Helps you file faster and keeps you IRS compliant!

Effective in tax year 2011, federal legislation mandates anyone filing more than 10 returns must electronically file. See IRS site for details.

This Resource Center is designed for new e-Filers to help you make the transition to e-Filing as quick and smooth as possible. And once you do, you'll wonder why you didn't start e-Filing sooner.

Additionally, leverage the ProSeries e-File Atlas throughout the year for updated Federal and State e-File information.

Why e-File?

  • Free e-Filing in ProSeries: e-Filing is included in ProSeries at no additional cost.
  • Compliance: If you anticipate doing more than 10 federal individual returns in a given tax year, the IRS mandates e-Filing.
  • Cost Savings: e-Filing results in significant paper, toner, and postage savings.
  • Accuracy Gains: e-Filed returns have additional diagnostics to help ensure the return is correct. The error rate for electronic returns is less than 1 percent.
  • Taxpayer Benefits: In addition to faster refunds for your clients, they can also file early and pay the balance later on the return due date.
  • Acknowledgement of Receipt: IRS acknowledgement is usually received within 48 hours after submitting the return.
About 5 years ago I decided to require that any qualifying returns be e-Filed. It was a great business decision! The biggest savings is in time assembling returns. I also save paper and toner costs as I only have to print a client copy. I can also provide my clientele with accurate refund dates.

ProSeries e-File Guarantee

Effective April 23, 2007, Intuit will offer ProSeries customers a guarantee of on-time submission of tax returns and if late, reimburse for paid e-File fees and any assessed late filing penalties.

If any ProSeries customer is unable to submit to Intuit any federal or state tax return before the applicable filing deadline or Intuit fails to file ProSeries customer-submitted returns with the appropriate tax agency before the applicable filing deadline and the lack of submission or filing is due to a failure of Intuit's electronic filing system, Intuit will refund any applicable electronic filing fees, and reimburse the taxpayer for any resulting penalties and interest levied and paid to the tax agency, upon submission of documentation reasonably acceptable to Intuit. Intuit is not responsible for any failure by ProSeries customers to submit, or Intuit's failure to file, any federal or state tax return due to reasons beyond its commercially reasonable control, including but not limited to internet outages or any deficiencies in the actual federal or state returns that prevent filing.
