Keep your system updated and achieve more productivity during tax season
Don't lose speed and productivity during tax season. Make sure your Lacerte software runs optimally and ensure compliance by checking your system against our system recommendations below. Upgrading will keep you from having unnecessary slowdowns, hassles and a less-than-optimal experience. More importantly, it will allow for further productivity during the busy tax season.
The system recommendations table lists the key system recommendations for achieving the performance needed to productively use Lacerte tax software.
Most Lacerte users experienced enhanced performance by upgrading the following:
- If you are using Windows XP then check to see if you have upgraded your software to Service Pack 3
- Click here to go to the Microsoft Help and Support page to update your software
- Follow the instructions on the page to install the latest service pack
- If you are using Windows 7, XP, or Vista, check to see if your computer's memory meets our system recommendations
- Click Start on the taskbar, Right-click My Computer or Computer, then Select Properties
What to expect for XP, Vista, and Windows 7
- In certain cases where you have a system that is 3 years old or older we suggest you check to see if you have a dual-core processor:

Internet Connection:
High-speed, such as T-1, DSL, or Cable/Broadband is required to license the software, download Web release and Internet Updates, and transmit e-File, pay per return authorization or service request submissions.
Scanners (Document Management System)
Browser:
Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher with 128-bit encryption
Add-On Components:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.

Supported Operating Systems:
Windows XP with Service Pack 3, Vista Professional or higher (32-bit & 64-bit) and Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) or higher (32-bit & 64-bit)
Supported Network Servers:
Windows Server 2008 (includes Small Business Server), Windows XP, Windows Vista and Citrix Server (on Windows Server 2008).

Note:
If your firewall requires specific port configuration, configure these ports to allow outbound / inbound TCP traffic: 10010, 10020, 10030, 10040, 10050, 10051, 10052, 10060, 10070, 10099.
Please Note: If your system does not meet our system recommendations, you may incur performance issues including, but not limited to, slow running software.
While Lacerte tax software may also run on systems not meeting these system recommendations, you may incur performance slowdowns if not compliant. We strongly suggest updating your system or purchasing a new system meeting these system recommendations in order to ensure maximum productivity and avoid unnecessary slowdowns during tax season.
