QuickBooks Certification

There are 9 optional online, self-study Certification Courses designed for accounting professionals who have a solid understanding of accounting principles, and already have fundamental knowledge of the QuickBooks software. Each course gives Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit (hours vary by course). The training courses are provided to help you pass the exam.

Certification is granted upon successful completion of a separate Certification Exam. To take the Exam, you should be comfortable working with and knowing topics like what's new in QuickBooks in 2013, QuickBooks setup, recording transactions, reporting, etc.

You get six attempts to pass the exam and need a score of 85% or higher. Depending upon your level of QuickBooks knowledge you may take the exam without reviewing the coursework and get certified in as little as 4 hours. If you pass, congrats you are done! If you do not pass, you will be given the questions that were incorrect so that you may study the applicable courses. If you don't have a lot of QuickBooks experience, we recommend you review the coursework before taking the exam. Reviewing all 9 courses for CPE may take up to 17 hours.

All courses and the exam are available online on the QuickBooks ProAdvisor member website, and once you join, can be completed at your own pace.

QuickBooks Online Certification

There are eight optional online, self study Certification courses with corresponding Activities Handbooks for in-product exercises. The courses are designed for accounting professionals who have a solid understanding of accounting principles who want to better support existing QuickBooks Online clients or support new online clients. 

QuickBooks Online Certification is granted upon separate completion of a QuickBooks Online Certification Exam. The Exam consists of four separate sections. You'll receive three attempts to pass each section with a score of 80% or higher. 

Depending upon your QuickBooks Online experience and expertise, completing all of the optional training courses and activities takes 10 – 12 hours and the exam takes 1 – 2 hours.  Again, the training is optional, so you may elect to review only the courses you think you need to confidently support your clients and/or pass the exam.  You can take this exam online via computer or on your iPhone or iPad.

Please note: This Certification does not offer CPE credits.

QuickBooks Advanced Certification

The QuickBooks Advanced Certification Course is designed to deepen the expertise of ProAdvisors who are already knowledgeable in QuickBooks, and distinguish these "QuickBooks experts" as highly proficient in this field. This exam requires you to have a deep understanding of accounting principles, expert knowledge of QuickBooks and ability to troubleshoot client data files.

To ensure the foundational knowledge and experience of ProAdvisors who are eligible for Advanced Certification, you must:

  • Meet the prerequisite of passing the 3 most recent years of QuickBooks Certification Exams
  • Review the advanced certification coursework and pass a scenario based exam (You get 6 attempts to pass and you need a score of 85% or higher to pass)
  • Maintain your advanced certification status by completing an annual QuickBooks certification exam and take the Advanced Continuing Education course(s) every 2 years. A shortened re-certification exam option is available to those who have successfully completed the two most recent full certification exams.

QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) Certification

This online, self-study Certification Course is for accounting and technology professionals who are already familiar with QuickBooks financial software, and who plan to serve clients with QuickBooks POS setup and support.

In order to be eligible to take the POS ProAdvisor Certification exam, you must first pass the QuickBooks Certification Exam. The certification exam may be taken up to six times and you must receive a passing score of 85%. The Point of Sale Certification is offered on a two year cycle, so you will only need to certify once within a two year cycle.

Please note: This certification is not eligible for CPE credits.

 QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions (ES) Certification

This online, self-study Certification Course is for accounting and technology professionals who are already familiar with QuickBooks financial software, and who plan to provide on-site QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions setup and/or support to their clients. In order to be eligible to take the Certified QuickBooks ES ProAdvisor Exam, you must first pass the QuickBooks Certification Exam. You have 6 attempts to pass the exam and you must receive a passing score of 85% to become certified. The Enterprise Solutions Certification is offered on a two year cycle, so you will only need to certify once within a two year cycle.
